STAND AS A CANDIDATE!
There has been something new happening in Wales, the First Welsh Youth Parliament was officially launched this summer. This is an exciting time for Wales as it is the first time we have our very own National Youth Parliament. Do you want to stand as one of the first elected members of the new WELSH YOUTH PARLIAMENT? Any young person aged 11-18 from Wales can stand to be a Welsh Youth Parliament Member.
The Welsh Youth Parliament will be made up of 60 young members in total, 40 members will represent every electoral constituency area in Wales the remaining 20 seats will be elected by partner organisations to ensure the representation of diverse groups of young people. All 60 Welsh Youth Parliament Members will have equal status, with the same role and responsibilities in the Parliament.
Locally there will be opportunities for young people from across Carmarthenshire to stand for election as candidates to represent 3 constituency areas; CARMARTHEN EAST AND DINEFWR, LLANELLI and CARMARTHEN WEST AND SOUTH PEMBROKESHIRE for the Welsh Youth Parliament.

WELSH YOUTH PARLIAMENT MEMBER
As a Welsh Youth Parliament Member you will identify, debate and raise awareness of the issues important to young people across Wales by using the Welsh Youth Parliament as the platform to amplify your voice. You will work directly with the National Assembly for Wales to make your voice heard, raise awareness of, and debate the issues important to young people in Wales at a national level, by those with the power to make change.
Somethings you may do;
- Decide and lead on work important to young people Support other Welsh Youth Parliament Members.
- Engage with Assembly Members about the work of the Welsh Youth Parliament.
- Contribute to the work of National Assembly committees.
- Help young people understand how the National Assembly for Wales and the Welsh Youth Parliament work and the impact they have on the lives of people in Wales.
- Meet together as a whole Welsh Youth Parliament three times over the two year term.
- Meet at regional level and at engagement events every 2—3 months. Shape the future of the Welsh Youth Parliament. Develop and increase the representation of young people in a positive way.
GETTING VOTING TO HAVE YOUR SAY? VOTER REGISTRATION FOR THE WELSH YOUTH PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS IN NOVEMBER IS NOW LIVE!
If you don’t want to stand for election you don’t have to! But we would encourage you to have your say and vote for the candidates that you feel you would like to represent you. Before you can vote in the Welsh Youth Parliament elections you’ll need to Register. Registration is online and takes about 5 minutes. Don't miss out. You have until 18 November 2018 to register.
